Transitional slipovers
The days are getting shorter, windier and rainier here in Copenhagen and autumn is definitely coming. Time for a new knitting project! Have you considered a slipover? They can easily layered over blouses, t-shirts or dresses and style up or down any look.
Nowadays, there are a lot of patterns for this type of garment, so I narrowed it down to sleek and textured because that is what I am currently drawn to myself. Most of them are also drafted for worsted or bulky weight yarn, which is something I have in my stash that is waiting to be used.
Let the fall knitting commence!
Montpellier Slipover by NovemberKnits
Norwegian designer Ane Fiskum Sunde came up with a very clean, very scandi looking slipover. The Montpellier Slipover is an oversized vest with a high rolled collar with ribbing down the sides. DK and lace weights are held together to make a worsted weight yarn. The pattern is drafted for eight sizes and available in eight languages, too.
Sleek Slipover by Rui Yamamuro
I featured another pattern by Japanese designer Rui Yamamuro before, but I just love their style! The Sleek Slipover is elegant, modern and classic and something that went on my to-knit-list immediately. It’s drafted for bulky weight (which means super quick progress!), comes in 7 sizes and is available in English and Japanese.
Ingrid Slipover by PetiteKnit
PetiteKnit is known for their great instructions and simple garments that appeal to many. Their Ingrid Slipover is a classic cut but with loads of texture across the body — something I’ve been dreaming about making for a while now. The texture pattern consists of three different sections, each one separated by an eyelet section. The Ingrid Slipover asks for DK plus lace weight yarns is available in five languages for nine sizes.
Detroit Slipover by Sara Ottosson
There is just something about this pattern that makes me go: oh! It might be the brioche stitch, the buttons on the side or that it is free. Whatever it is, I want to make this so bad! Designed by Sara Ottosson for Svarta Fåret, the worsted-weight pattern includes eight sizes and comes in four languages.
Gramps Slipover by Tania Barley
This slipover includes a two-colour version and I love it. The Gramps Slipover is described as: “a cozy, oversized vest with a boxy shape and rather deep armholes, perfect for layering over shirts and dresses.” It is drafted for DK weight, comes in nine sizes and is available in English.
